Una de las primeras consecuencias de una caída de temperatura es la disminución de la presión atmosférica; esto hace que el aire no ejerza tanta resistencia contra nuestro cuerpo y los tejidos tengan la oportunidad de expandirse, el problema es que al hacerlo, se genera una fuerte presión contra nuestras articulaciones causando un dolor constante e incómodo.

Cuando nuestro cuerpo se encuentra en un ambiente adverso, su primera respuesta siempre es la de intentar proteger nuestros órganos vitales, ubicados justo en el centro de nuestro cuerpo; cuando se trata de enfrentar un clima frío, nuestro organismo de forma automática focaliza casi toda su energía y calor en nuestro pecho, enviando a este mismo sector la mayor cantidad de sangre posible; al disminuir el flujo sanguíneo a las extremidades, las venas se contraen causando rigidez, incomodidad y en últimas instancias dolor.

Se ha descubierto además que el líquido albergado en nuestras articulaciones tiende a responder a las bajas temperaturas haciéndose más espeso, lo cual hace que nuestras articulaciones se sientan rígidas y pesadas, y nosotros tengamos dificultad para movernos.
